For all of you football fans out there, you know that today was the first Sunday in the NFL season. For those of you that aren’t, you won’t want to be at our house on Sunday until February.
My husband anxiously awaits the football season each summer. For me, this season means I make him awesome “football food” (because you must have special food on game day). It also means that I watch some football, relax, read, and drink coffee all the afternoon long. As you can see, it works for many reasons! 🙂
During the summer, I don’t happily do much cooking on Sundays. It’s either really easy, take-out, going out, or eating at someone else’s house. To ease back in to the glories of football cooking, I kind of took it easy today. After church, I made the hubs one of his favorite foods – hot dogs wrapped with crescent rolls. Suuuuuuuper easy. So since the lunch was so simple, I felt like supper at least have the illusion of being complicated.
Since it’s almost fall, and the days are starting to cool off, I decided to make some yummy, warm food. Plus, what’s the kickoff of the football season and fall without some homemade chili?
It was every bit as delicious as it was simple! Brown off the beef, chop the veggies, and throw all of the ingredients together. Let the crock pot do the work for you!!! The crock pot cooked, and the hubby did the dishes. 🙂
Needless to say, I feel like today was a lazy Sunday. I did do some work, but nothing monumental. I have some ambitious goals for Monday, so hopefully today’s rest will pay off!
What’d you do today? Did you watch football? Whatever you did, I hope it was great!!!
